The Michael Tippett School (for 11-19-year-olds with special needs) is joining the Group's multi-academy trust and being renamed Heron Academy. London South East Colleges is taking over the provision formerly delivered by Michael Tippett College (supporting 19-24-year-olds with special needs), to be known as Nido Volans Lambeth. Both settings had received inadequate Ofsted ratings in November 2021.
Dr Sam Parrett CBE said: "We are delighted to be working with Lambeth to ensure that young people with special needs in the Borough have access to high quality pathways and receive the support and care they need." Councillor Ben Kind, Cabinet Member for Children & Young People in Lambeth, welcomed the transfer and the continuity it would provide for students graduating from school into college.
